This Committee overseas the harvesting of food from the Food Garden, a demonstration garden. The schedule is dependant on the availability of fruits and vegetables for harvesting, the availability of FOGs, the availability of a truck from the soup kitchen and the availability of suitable weather. The activity is usually from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays during the summer and fall.![]() April 19th 2009 This is the news from the Food Garden this past week. Fingers perhaps were not crossed! Plantings of March are slow in coming. However, seeds were sown on April 14,2009 for: Swiss Chard 'Calico Mix' Mustard leaf 'Hatakena' Pac Choi 'Joi Choi' Beets 'Da orto Paonazza d'Egito' and Peas 'Markana' In addition two heads of Cauliflower'Purple Cape' were harvested. This cauliflower was expected by mid March so it is one month late!! |
